Currently offered for $699,000, the single-level Montebello plan boasts over 2370 square feet of living space with soaring 20-foot ceilings and walls of glass that look out to the private pool and spa. Included in the purchase price is Jane Wyman's complete bedroom set as well as various pieces of memorabilia such as a sterling silver ice bucket she received from the National Arthritis Foundation, just one of the many charitable organizations she supported throughout her lifetime. In 1977, she received the Charles B. Harding award, the highest national award given by the Foundation. In turn, the local Southern California chapter created the Jane Wyman Humanitarian Award. "Jane was probably one of the most important philanthropists for the arthritis cause," said Stanford Rubin, former national chairman of the Arthritis Foundation. Afflicted with arthritis and diabetes herself, she was the lead person running the local annual arthritis telethons for about 20 years, often appearing with her daughter, Maureen. While serving as the Foundation's national chairperson, she traveled around the country promoting the cause and raising awareness of the disease. As a devout Catholic, she was also a strong supporter of the Church as well as Hollywood's Covenant House and Our Lady of the Angels Monastery. Wyman, an award-winning actress for 61 years, began her career in show business as a radio singer and dancer Known as "one take Wyman" because of her strong work ethic, she played the role of Angela Channing on the prime-time soap opera Falcon Crest for nine years, and won both the Academy Award and Golden Globe for her performance as a deaf-mute rape victim Belinda MacDonald in Johnny Belinda (1948). She received three other Oscar nominations for best actress for her dramatic roles as a stern mother in The Yearling (1946), as a self-sacrificing nursemaid in The Blue Vail (1951) and as Rock Hudson's Magnificent Obsession in the 1954 Douglas Sirk melodrama. After Wyman's death last year, Michael Reagan said, "I have lost a loving mother, my children have lost a loving grandmother, my wife has lost a loving friend she called "Mom," and Hollywood has lost the classiest lady to ever grace the silver screen." In addition to his radio career, Reagan serves on the board for the John Douglas French Alzheimer's Foundation and has authored many successful books, including his best-selling autobiography, "On the Outside Looking In," and "The Common Sense of An Uncommon Man: The Wit, Wisdom and Eternal Optimism of Ronald Reagan." His latest book, "Twice Adopted," is based on his own personal story. He and his wife, Colleen, have two children and reside in Sherman Oaks, California.
